Unemployed Professors is always looking for exceptional academic writers — former and current professors, instructors, and graduate students with terminal degrees, real teaching experience, and a proven publication record. If you have the credentials, the writing chops, and the ability to work across subjects and deadlines, this is one of the few places where your academic expertise actually pays what it's worth.

Unlike most platforms in this space, we don't ask for free work as part of the application process, we pay rates that reflect genuine expertise, and we treat our writers as skilled professionals rather than disposable contractors. Interested in a fast-paced job where you actually get to use your degree? Are you a native speaker of English? We’re always taking applications from writers who hold terminal degrees (i.e., the highest degree attainable in your field) with at least two years of collegiate teaching experience, at least two peer-reviewed publications, and stellar writing samples. We’re not going to ask for “free” work as part of the application process (as most of our competitors do), but we must be impressed by your writing samples.

Writing Skills

All candidates must possess strong writing skills and previous experience in a writing position.

Must hold an advanced college or university degree.
